EUA não conquistaram a confiança do Irã, reafirma líder iraniano

As recent negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad have led to a stalemate, revealing underlying tensions and a lack of trust. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the leader of the Iranian delegation and president of the Iranian Parliament, expressed doubts regarding the U.S. commitment during a lengthy, 21-hour negotiation process.

Ghalibaf stated, “Before the negotiations, I emphasized that we have the goodwill and determination necessary, but due to the experiences of the two previous wars, we do not trust the other side.” This statement highlights the skepticism the Iranian team holds towards U.S. intentions, which has significantly hampered progress.

Desafios nas Negociações

A delegação iraniana apresentou 168 proposals, which were aimed at constructive dialogue and future-oriented solutions. However, Ghalibaf noted that the U.S. side failed to build trust in this round of talks. “The United States understood our logic and our principles, and now it’s time for them to decide whether they can win our trust,” he added. This comment suggests that for any future negotiations to proceed successfully, a foundational trust must be established.

Reações dos EUA

Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President JD Vance commented on the situation, indicating that the Iranian negotiators were unwilling to accept the terms offered by the U.S. “We have been discussing for 21 hours, and while we had substantial talks, we unfortunately did not advance,” he said in a press conference. Vance described the U.S. proposals as flexible, yet he acknowledged that the main disagreement revolved around Iran’s nuclear program.

As Vance concluded his statements, he noted, “We leave with a simple proposal, our final offer, and we will see if the Iranians accept it.” His departure indicated the urgency on the U.S. side to finalize an agreement.
